Urban Community Based Ecological Energy Solutions

Artful Living Studio Construction

Shamala Bennu Auset (UCLIS) and Marvin Campbell of Soul Ecology

Artist and educator Shamala Bennu Auset of the University of Creative Life Initiation System (UCLIS), commissioned Soul Ecology to add a green element to the design of her Artful Life Design Studio. The Passive Solar design structure utilizes the direct gain technique of using sun energy to heat and light the structure. An addition to studio eco-friendly design an off-grid solar energy system will supply the energy needs of the studio. Incorporating passive solar energy technologies, the building is a testament to how intelligent architectural design can enhance energy efficiency while still creating a distinctive visual appearance.

Currently, the new Artful Living Studio was built on a hill behind the Artist residence. The studios elevation will allow a beautiful southwest view of surrounding hills and vista. An assortment of trees surrounds the studio on the east and west. The northern ridge has a variety of shrubs and plants.
