Urban Ecology
After attending several ecology conventions and ecology community fairs. I notice the approach and viewpoint to ecology was from a rural or suburban background. It seems that the people either have a ½ acre of land or a farm to utilize Hay Bail construction and Trombe walls or they live in a suburban community with a two car garages dedicated to making of bio-fuel or solar energy.
Often I felt like an outsider; I am a city guy…I was born in the inner city of Los Angeles and currently I live in downtown Los Angeles. My neighbors live in apartments, condos and lofts in building with multiple floors. The loft that I currently called home is in a 10 story building. Basically, I live in an urban environment; in 2006 more than 25% of non-industrial/factory greenhouse gases were generated by people living in an urban environment.
When I attend an ecology convention or fair, I am looking for examples and solutions to reverse green house gases in an urban environment. After realizing that there are not many organizations that view ecology from an urban point view, I decided to create my own organization dedicated to "Urban Ecology". I named the organization "Soul Ecology".
