What is Soul Ecology?
When anyone shows up anywhere, the place where they show up was there long before they got there. Even if they might have been there hundreds, or even thousands of times, each time that they show up, events happened prior to their arrival about which they may likely not know.
I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I have felt awkward as I didn’t get a good read of the room when I arrived and acted in such a way that increased my own sense of not fitting in. This is how the notion of ecology works in a social situation. Much like kudzu (as pictured above), the presence of anything definitely has an impact. Ecology is the concern for the overall relationship between a being and its environment. My presence might not be my fault, and it can (and usually does) have consequences.
My friend just adopted a new puppy. She had no idea how much that puppy was going to change things. I am sure that the pup has no idea how he is about to be changed, either. Every thing has an effect on its environment, as well as the environment having an effect on it as well.
When you arrived on this planet, you changed someone’s world. In the course of socialization to your culture, they molded you as well.
The intention of the Institute of Soul Ecology is to explore and discover how our presence changes people, places, and things, and how we are changed by the presence of other people, places, and things, and practice using new ways from others to enhance how we can more effectively change our worlds, together.
